What Are the Benefits of Plasma Skin Resurfacing?
At Contemporary Dentistry, we understand that your skin may become dull, dry, and show signs of aging as you age. With plasma skin resurfacing treatments, we offer our patients in Fairfax, VA a rejuvenated appearance through a solution that delivers multiple benefits:
- Tightening of pores
- Improved confidence in your appearance
- Diminished wrinkles and fine lines
- Smoother, more even skin texture
- Reduction in the visibility of scars and sun damage
Am I A Candidate for Plasma Skin Resurfacing?
There are various factors to consider when deciding which level of skin resurfacing regimen is best for your needs. This treatment is ideal for patients who are dissatisfied with their facial look. Fractional plasma resurfacing procedures can help smooth these cosmetic flaws. It also works effectively for men and women who have uneven texture, scaly patches, or other issues. However, this treatment might not be ideal for people with more pigmented skin or acne issues.
What Is the Plasma Skin Resurfacing Technique?
While getting your plasma skin resurfacing treatment, you will get comfortable in our special procedure chair while the microplasma handheld device glides over your skin, directly targeting the treatment areas for improvement. You will experience the heated sensation from the applicator, followed by chilled air from the system's incorporated cooling technology. The microplasma energy helps to eradicate dead and damaged skin cells while promoting new collagen growth. Depending on the needs of your skin type, the procedure will be customized for the best results. After your session, you will experience a sensation resembling a sunburn, but this will go away after a short period. Your refreshed outcomes will likely remain for five years or more and can be repeated as necessary. While your results may last a long time, it's necessary to be aware that this procedure does not put a stop to your body's natural age progression.
What to Expect After Plasma Skin Resurfacing
After your plasma skin resurfacing treatment at Contemporary Dentistry in Fairfax, VA, you can expect your skin to feel warm and slightly tight, similar to a mild sunburn. Redness and slight swelling are common for the first day or two, followed by the appearance of tiny crusts or “dots” that naturally flake away within a week. These are normal signs that your skin is renewing itself. Our team will provide detailed aftercare instructions, including how to gently cleanse your skin, keep it hydrated, and protect it from the sun. Most patients begin to see smoother texture and a brighter tone within days, with continued improvement over the following weeks. We will also follow up to make sure your recovery is on track and help you plan any future sessions for long-lasting results.
How Much Does Plasma Skin Resurfacing Cost?
Cost is an important part of planning any cosmetic treatment, and plasma skin resurfacing is no different. At Contemporary Dentistry in Fairfax, VA, pricing is customized based on your skin goals, the area being treated, and the number of sessions recommended for best results. Our team believes in transparency, so your consultation includes a detailed discussion of your treatment plan and associated costs before moving forward. Because plasma skin resurfacing is considered a cosmetic service, insurance typically does not provide coverage. Our team is always available to review payment options and answer insurance-related questions so you can move ahead feeling confident and informed.
Contemporary Dentistry Reviews
Great experience. Open on Saturday. Dr. Maya Vexler DDS was fantastic and did a great job with my dental crown, very confident and nice. I plan on switching to Contemporary Dentistry. The whole team made me feel very comfortable and safe.
UPDATE: January 2024. My 6th year with Dr. Morales. Had another cleaning. As usual, great experience. I don't have insurance, so I am happy they still honor Aetna's discount membership for real savings. Started to learn Spanish and I can practice it in real life...and for free! Hasta la proxima vez ! UPDATE: January 2023. Just had the cleaning done, after five years still a satisfied customer. This is my second review for this excellent office. After neglecting my teeth for quite some time a broken toothed forced me to visit a dentist. After a research on the web and subsequent phone calls I settled for the Contemporary Dentistry of Manassas. One of the reason was that not having insurance the office accepts Aetna Savings Plans, basically a discount for the services. The discounts are real as I found out calling some other offices. My first visit was in January 2018. I have had numerous procedures done since then (altogether 30 - thirty - visits) ranging from deep cleaning, numerous cavities and including one implant and two crowns. All work was done in the office, the quality of work has been 100%+, I have never experienced nay 'post-procedure' pains or complications. The staff is very friendly and I am very happy I picked Contemporary dentistry for my dental needs. UPDATE: January 2023. Just had the cleaning done, after five years still a satisfied customer.
My family and I have been patients of Dr. Morales and his practice for 18 years. The time period, alone, should be an indication of my family’s satisfaction. Dr. Morales is wonderful...he invariably demonstrates serving his patients’ best interests and well-being in recommending and carrying out treatment. We have never had lingering issues in any treatment given. We have successfully recommended him and his practice and will continue to do so. We never have a problem with scheduling appointments and the office staff is always welcoming and pleasant. The office, itself, is modern and comfortable. If I could give 10 Stars, I would! P.S. Love our hygienist, Amy.
I’ve had a very positive experience with Contemporary Dentistry of Fairfax starting with my initial phone call to make my appointment, to the welcoming and professional office staff, and the talent and skill of the dentists. I currently see Dr Noumy but I trust that I would get the same care from the other dentists as well.
I travel from Florida for Dentist Diego Morales. He is super careful and I don’t have any pain. Excellent work in my mouth. Dentist Diego Morales treats you like part of his family. No waiting times when you have an appointment. The receptionist and the staff very attentive. I recommended 100%.

Plasma Skin Resurfacing FAQs
What is the cost of fractional plasma skin rejuvenation?
Fractional plasma skin resurfacing expenses will vary based on the treatment type you select. During your consultation, we will work to understand your cosmetic issues and desires before explaining the numerous varieties of resurfacing. Then, we will help you select your resurfacing treatment and discuss costs.
Is plasma skin resurfacing safe for dark skin?
When performed by an experienced provider, plasma resurfacing can be an excellent option for deeper skin tones. Because the energy targets tissue water rather than pigment, it reduces the risk of uneven color changes seen with some lasers. We take extra care with energy settings and aftercare to protect your complexion while improving texture and clarity.
Can you get plasma skin resurfacing while pregnant?
It’s best to hold off until after pregnancy. Hormonal changes can heighten skin sensitivity, and we avoid any procedure that hasn’t been fully studied in expectant mothers. Once your skin stabilizes postpartum, we can safely address concerns like uneven tone or fine lines.
When can I reapply makeup after plasma skin resurfacing?
You’ll want to wait until your skin’s surface has calmed and new cells have begun forming, which is typically within about 48-72 hours. Applying makeup too soon can block healing pathways. We’ll give you personalized aftercare guidelines, including when it’s safe to resume cosmetics without compromising your results.
What is the recovery time after plasma skin resurfacing?
We will discuss how you can speed skin healing following your plasma rejuvenation procedure. The number one rule is not to peel or pick your skin. This could create lasting damage, like scars. You should also avoid all types of hair removal on the treated skin, including shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams. Additionally, you need to wear sunscreen and use a head covering when outdoors. Our team can prescribe certain products to help promote recovery for the treated areas.
Do I need multiple fractional plasma skin resurfacing sessions?
The first plasma skin resurfacing session often delivers evident enhancements for many people. To achieve your ideal improvements, you might choose to get a set of 3 or 4 sessions scheduled 2 – 4 weeks apart. For more intense rejuvenation treatments, additional time might be required between sessions. Following this, we recommend arranging follow-up plasma sessions a couple of times yearly at Contemporary Dentistry.
